Every intelligent observer of American media knows that, on the whole, they are ludicrously biased towards the left - sometimes even to the extent of out-and-out conspiracy but more commonly because virtually all journalists are themselves leftists.
How this harms the Republican party is obvious, but it's also bad for Democratic candidates in a somewhat subtle way.
Since the media is out to ruin every Republican politician, in order to be successful at all a Republican must be preternaturally self-controlled, inhumanly self-disciplined, and of a personal character that would make a Boy Scout green with envy. The media will seize on the slightest misstep as an occasion to call for a Republican to be sent to the gallows, and if they can't find any, like as not they'll make one up.
To name but one example, the media didn't even criticize Mr. Obama (D) when our ambassador was murdered in Benghazi, but spent months calling for New Jersey Governor Christie (R) to resign when someone in his administration closed a traffic lane on the George Washington Bridge for a few days.
Democrats don't have this problem; they have to be caught with the proverbial dead girl or live boy before anyone cares, or more accurately, these days it takes a whole busload of live women before there's a problem. Even then, fallen Democrats usually get a second chance after the dust settles.
How does this harm Democrats? Because in order to reach the heights of power, Democrats don't have to develop extreme personal and political discipline. More often then not they can just coast along on a pinko cloud of adoring media coverage.
This would be more damaging if the Republicans weren't the Stupid Party who can't throw a punch without hitting themselves in the jaw. Because they are, though, modern Democrats have grown used to nobody ever calling them seriously to account no matter what they do.
There is, however, one very particular type of Democrat where personal political competence still matters: the corrupt big-city machine politician. In most American megalopolises, all the politicians are either Democrats or Republicans who are allowed to get in on the take just to keep up appearances. Thus, most Democrats aren't battling against Republicans but other Democrats; the power of media bias doesn't help them much at all.
This single-party Democrat setup is the world from which Barack Obama the politician emerged - the Windy City, home of the Chicago Way.
Which brings us to “without a doubt the most corrupt politician that this nation has ever seen,” as Kathleen Willey characterized Hillary Clinton. She oughta know, having been molested by Slick Willie and then trashed by Hillary's "bimbo eruption" containment squad. Ms. Willey, who just launched a website documenting "A [Clinton] Scandal a Day," says:
I don’t have to do a lot of research, because it’s not just a scandal a day. It’s about two or three scandals a day. So what I’m doing is kind of a compilation of these scandals and explaining them in simple terms so most people can understand what’s going on, and what they’re up to and why they are lying every day.
This is not news to anybody with a pulse. Bill Clinton in particular has been a pathological liar since he first said "Dada!" to his mother, and Hillary is something not even documented in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders. They've benefited from national media bias for practically their entire lives, able to stomp down "the vast right-wing conspiracy" at will.
Only when Bill's lechery became too eye-catching for the lascivious media mandarins to resist and after they were scooped by the Drudge Report did the media deign to report on the Girl in a Blue Dress, and Bill started to pay a political price. Even then, it wasn't much of a price. He wasn't removed from office, is our best-remembered living president, and has made many millions from giving speeches and consulting for questionable rich people.
Once again, between the housepet media and the Stupid Party, Democrats can get away with almost anything - except, that is, if another Democrat is out to get them. Which makes it interesting that, finally, Hillary Clinton is hearing the soft footsteps of flatfoots on her trail.
There are potentially hundreds of classified emails within the approximately 30,000 provided by former Secretary Clinton.
Yes, the long-simmering scandal of Hillary's illegal private email server, used for official messages that by law must use an official email address, is coming back to haunt her.
One can argue, as Hillary is doing, that the real problem is overclassification. She points out that loads of trivia that nobody cares about are technically classified for no good reason. One could also argue, as Hillary never will but we routinely do, that there are way too many pettifogging laws and it's time we trimmed a bunch of them back.
The fact remains, however, Hillary obviously did break the law over and over: she sent emails containing classified information using an ordinary email system. That is, by definition, a felony, and the proof is abundant.
Now, the FBI walked it back a bit, claiming that Hillary herself is not under criminal investigation. However, that could change at any time, particularly as she was the one who was hitting the "Send" key - or she'd given someone else her password, which if you're sending classified information, is - surprise! - a felony.
Who is there who controls the US Department of Justice, who might possibly like to have Hillary Clinton dancing to his tune? That is not the way America is supposed to work, but it's definitely the way Chicago has worked for many years.
If, God forbid, Hillary by some perverse miracle assumes the Presidency, there's every possibility that Bill won't get to enjoy being the First Man except in the technical sense. The First Man, the power behind the throne, the puppetmaster, will be the one who has his hands on enough evidence to send Hillary packing to Club Fed should he wish it, that acknowledged master of the Chicago Way - Barack Hussein Obama.
Sleep well, Hillary! You too, Bill! One hopes that the electorate will wake up in time.
