More Anti-Child Racism from Obama's Democrats

Two years ago - it seems like an eternity - we wrote a controversial article brutally entitled "Barack Obama's Democrats Promote White Supremacy."

Inflammatory it was, but it was also true: our all-Democrat government had heartlessly eliminated the DC Opportunity Scholarship Program.  This was a voucher system that had given D.C.'s inner-city black kids the chance to leave worthless, violent, union-dominated public schools and attend effective private schools where actual learning takes place at much lower cost.

Of course, not one of the Democrats stripping a good education from these poor black kids would ever send their kids to a ghetto school; they, being destined for the ruling elite like their parents, are self-evidently worthy of better.  Killing the vouchers only harmed black kids, so by liberalism's own definition, killing the program was a racist act.

What's more, as we reported, the Obama administration did this knowingly.  Sitting on the desk of the Education Secretary was a report proving that the vouchers worked, saving kids who otherwise would drop out and fail.  In a stunning example of transparency Obama-style, that report was suppressed until the evil deed had been accomplished.

Two years have passed and Congress is once again in the hands of those bigoted, racist Republicans.  How are they planning to destroy the lives of black people this time?

The House approved a bill Wednesday to revive the D.C. Opportunity Scholarship Program, even as the controversial school-choice measure faces an uncertain future.

Under the program, which began in 2004, low-income D.C. students are given federal money to help pay for private school tuition. Democrats closed the program to new entrants in 2009. House Speaker John A. Boehner’s bill — known as the SOAR Act — would reopen it, offering $20 million annually for five years for new scholarships, along with another $20 million apiece for D.C. charter schools and traditional D.C. public schools.

Boehner’s bill passed the House on a 225 to 195 vote, with all but nine Republicans present voting in favor and all but one Democrat opposed.

We repeat and renew our charges of two years ago: Obama's Democrats are bigoted racists by their own definition.  The Republicans are the ones who truly care about the lives and futures of innocent black kids, even those living in districts that vote exclusively for Democrats.

It's even worse than that.  The official White House website responded to Boehner's bill with indignant fury:

The Administration opposes the creation or expansion of private school voucher programs that are authorized by this bill. The Federal Government should focus its attention and available resources on improving the quality of public schools for all students. Private school vouchers are not an effective way to improve student achievement. The Administration strongly opposes expanding the D.C. Opportunity Scholarship Program and opening it to new students. Rigorous evaluation over several years demonstrates that the D.C. program has not yielded improved student achievement by its scholarship recipients compared to other students in D.C.  [emphasis added]

This is a lie so blatant and appalling that even the reliably-liberal Washington Post was aghast:

The White House of course has a right to its own opinion, as wrongheaded as we believe it to be. It doesn’t have a right to make up facts...

[The] dismissal might come as a surprise to Patrick J. Wolf, the principal investigator who helped conduct the rigorous studies of the D.C. Opportunity Scholarship Program and who has more than a decade of experience evaluating school choice programs. Here’s what Mr. Wolf had to say about the program in Feb. 16 testimony to the Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Operations.

“In my opinion, by demonstrating statistically significant experimental impacts on boosting high school graduation rates and generating a wealth of evidence suggesting that students also benefited in reading achievement, the DC OSP has accomplished what few educational interventions can claim: It markedly improved important education outcomes for low-income inner-city students.”  [emphasis added]

Saying that the President doesn't have the right to make up facts is about as close as the WaPo, a card-carrying member of the Mainstream Media, dares come to calling Pres. Obama an out-and-out liar.  Let's look at the actual facts as revealed by the Post:

It is a fact that the DC Opportunity Scholarship Program enormously improved the education and lives of impoverished black children in a way no other program has.

It is a fact that it did so at no cost to the public schools, and at less than half of the cost of the public schools that have failed so infamously.  What's more, this new bill to revive the program not only provides the voucher money, but provides extra money for the public schools on top of what's already been granted... yet Obama and his Democrats still reflexively oppose it.

It is a fact that the program is overwhelmingly supported by District residents, almost exclusively Democrats themselves.

And it is a fact that Democrat politicians, who voted against the bill almost to a man (or woman), thereby oppose giving any poor black kids any hope of a better life.  If Republicans ever dared such a thing, they'd be strung up from the nearest lamppost with the WaPo cheering the lynch mob on.

"Make up facts" indeed!  What's wrong with the classic "You lie!"?

Ordinarily, the Federal government has no business being involved in education; that's a responsibility for local and state government, and the fact that there even is a federal Department of Education is a wasteful, unConstitutional travesty.  In the singular case of Washington D.C., though, the Constitution specifically grants Congress the power "To exercise exclusive Legislation in all Cases whatsoever, over such District."  That includes establishing educational policy for those residing therein.

Speaker Boehner and the Republican majority are doing their Constitutional duty in a proven-effective way which ought to be beyond partisanship.  The wretched fact that it isn't, is damning.

The party of the KKK should be mortified, but Democrats have no shame.
