Catching Saul Alinsky's Virus 1

Why do only the Democrats use crises to accomplish their goals?

For decades, conservatives have called Democrats the "evil party" because of their use of underhanded tactics to seek power and wealth for themselves.  Republicans, in contract, are called the "stupid party" for letting them get away with this.

No matter how hard they may protest at first, Republicans always end up going along with Democrat wishes over time.  They've let Democrats change our schools to teach anti-American ideologies, use the courts to enact judicial coups against longstanding American ideals, and increase government regulation and spending over the course of decades.

Democrats and other swamp dwellers have gotten away with this for so long that they never thought anyone would call them on it.  Mr. Trump is not one of those rollover Republicans, however.  He didn't resign when they ginned up the fake "Russia, Russia, Russia" charade or back down when Democrats attacked Justice Kavanaugh, he fought back.  They still haven't figured out what to do about him.

We've written several articles describing the Democrats' methods of creating chaos to further their pursuit of power by any means, an approach explained decades ago by 60s liberals Richard Cloward and Frances Fox Piven.

More recently, and less academically, the basic tactic is summed up by Chicago Mayor Rahm Emmanuel's oft-cited meme "Never let a crisis go to waste."  He didn't add the Cloward-Piven corollary, "If there's no crisis, create one, or make one up."

In keeping with these principles, whenever a crisis is perceived, Democrats attach provisions to hastily-crafted emergency laws, unrelated to the "crisis du jour", to advance their long-term agenda instead.

Begging for Slavery

President Reagan had a simple criterion for evaluating a proposed law: Did it increase freedom or decrease freedom?  Any law that decreased freedom overall didn't get his support.

Democrats' criteria are precisely the opposite - anything that reduces freedom or, better yet, hands money to their allies such as unions or trial lawyers gets their support.

For example, the housing crisis in California is primarily due to Democrats' passing all kinds of restrictions on the use of private property - and, naturally, the only "solutions" they propose to the crisis they created involve taking even more money from taxpayers and giving themselves even more power to mess things up.  Only when the voters wake up to this cycle of intentional failure and strip them of power will any actual solutions have any hope of being found.

We'll give them a hint: just about all of the viable solutions involve stripping power away from the government entirely and returning it to the people.  This will be difficulty, because embedded bureaucracy - otherwise known as "The Swamp" - helps Democrats oppose any reduction in government power, in the United States as can be seen in Japan.

Democrats also deliberately create chaos to make citizens want to give up freedom in return for the politicians' protecting them from the chaos the politicians themselves created.  Both Hillary and Mr. Obama were disciples of Saul Alinsky, who advocated creating chaos to to get power.  California passing laws favoring thieves over property owners and Democrats' letting convicted criminals out of jail "to protect them from the virus" are examples of chaos-creation.  Keeping people from protecting themselves by closing gun stores as part of the bat-soup lockdown accentuates the crisis.

Some Democrat state governors have issued executive orders forbidding doctors to prescribe Hydroxychloroquine to people suffering from Wuhan flu.  It's been approved in France.  The data which suggest that this readily-available drug helps are scant, but there's no reason a doctor shouldn't be able to give it to a suffering patient who was made fully aware of the uncertain nature of this particular treatment.  Democrats seem to be "pro choice" only when peasants choose in ways the politicians like.

We've observed that the Democrats were unable or unwilling to accurately count the votes in their own primary election.  They couldn't set up a health insurance web site that worked, instead funneling millions of taxpayer dollars to an incompetent crony.  They can't operate New York subways, Boston's MBTA, the DC Metro, or the San Francisco BART.  There's poop all over the streets of Scat Francisco.  New York City public housing has more kids with lead poisoning than Flint, MI - but there's no Republican to blame, so there's media silence.

Why anyone would believe that the government could operate our medical system is beyond us.  Why would anyone vote Democrat at all except to get free stuff as Hunter Biden, John Kerry's advisers, and Nancy Pelosi's son did?

How They Do It

Democrats can be counted on to try to shove through a 1,500 page "emergency" bill containing measures to deal with the crisis but having a lot more provisions to re-make society to give Democrats more wealth and power.  We saw them engage in a shakedown by holding up the bill which was designed to help our economy survive the virus lock-down.

"This is a tremendous opportunity to restructure things to fit our vision." [House of Representatives] Majority Whip James Clyburn (D-S.C.)

The Daily Caller tells us that the New York Times, which sets the pattern for how the mainstream media covers for Democrats when they abuse the system in that manner, repeatedly changed its headline about the Democrats' scummy maneuvers. Their "emergency" bill was a 1,500 page monster which they just happened to already have lying around on a word processor.

The New York Times quietly edited a headline on the coronavirus relief package that stalled in Congress Sunday, twice making adjustments that were more favorable to Democrats.

The original headline read "Democrats Block Action on $1.8 Trillion Stimulus."

The second version still pointed to Democrats as the reason for the stall, but added their justification. "Democrats Block Action on Stimulus Plan, Seeking Worker Protections."

The third headline removed Democrats entirely, saying instead, "Partisan Divide Threatens Deal on Rescue Bill."

Townhall listed some of the ways Democrats tried to "restructure things to fit our vision".  Take note: each and every one of the items listed here was demanded by the Democrats for inclusion, not in regular legislation, or even in our national budget, but in the emergency coronavirus economic rescue package!

  • Publication of corporate pay statistics by race and race statistics for all corporate boards.  This is a gift to trial lawyers who will use such data as the basis for lawsuits against businesses and can be counted to share their ill-gotten gains with Democrats running for office.
  • A bail out on all current debt at the Postal Service.  Most of the financial problems as the USPS are due to overly-generous labor agreements which provide generous amounts of time off and unaffordable pensions.  The correct solution to this problem would be bankruptcy and restructuring, in which the unaffordable pensions are stripped by a Federal bankruptcy judge and corporate assets are shared out in an equitable way according to time-honored legal procedures, but naturally this would harm the union bosses who donate their forcibly-collected union dues exclusively to Democrats.  What's more, this theft from taxpayers would serve as a prototype for bailing out bankrupt Democratic states such as Illinois and California, who are collapsing under the same iron triangle of union-Democrat corruption.
  • Required early voting.  This and the following two provisions make it easier for Democrats to cheat during elections.
  • Required same day voter registration.  There is no way to verify citizenship with same-day registration.
  • Mail in ballots and ballot harvesting, proven methods for election fraud
  • Provisions on official time for union collective bargaining.  This requires businesses to pay union officials for all the work they do on behalf of the unions, even though just about everything such union officials do is against the interest of the company paying for them to do it.
  • Full offset of airline emissions by 2025.  This and the next two provisions are intended to increase the costs of flying and to make it easier to pretend that "global warming" is a true crisis as opposed to manufactured media spin.  As Sen. Ted Cruz sensibly pointed out, “What the h-ll do the emissions standards on airplanes have to do with thousands of people dying and millions of people out of work in the coronavirus epidemic?”
  • Publication and reporting of greenhouse gas statistics for individual flights
  • Expansion of wind and solar tax credits.  Communities are beginning to push back against wind farms because of noise, killing birds, and reduced nearby property values.  Some Democrats are pushing legislation to deny local communities the right to object to wind farms while at the same time, attempting to pass legislation allowing local communities to forbid fracking.  Double standard, anyone?
  • Study on climate change mitigation efforts.  What data we have shows that efforts such as banning straws and plastic bags do environmental harm at high cost.  We can be sure that government money would go only to groups who promise to report the desired results.
  • Retirement plans for community newspaper employees.  This provision would fund yet another group of people who generate Democrat propaganda, like the government-supported "reporters" at National Public Radio.
  • Federal $15 minimum wage.  Very few high-school graduates are worth $15 an hour.  Destroying low-end jobs is good way to eliminate the all-important "starter jobs" which get young people climbing the employment ladder.  Democrats have a longstanding "war on the poor" because people who depend on government handouts are less opposed to spending increases than people who work for a living.  Mr. Obama was a particularly strong advocate of such job-killing provisions.
  • Permanent paid leave.  This imposes high costs on employers, particularly small businesses which operate on low margins that have already been annihilated by government action in forcing them to close down.

There were too many such items for one article, so a second Townhall list continued:

  • A billion dollars to support sanctuary cities.  These two provisions are part of Democrats' longstanding effort to import enough impoverished illegals to out-vote people who work for a living, just as Prime Minister Tony Blair did in England.  Their changes to election laws are intended to make it easier to sneak illegals onto the voting rolls.
  • DACA amnesty for children illegally brought to the United States by their illegal parents who are still living here illegally.
  • A billion dollars for infamous abortion mill Planned Parenthood.  PP is one of the largest donors to Democrat election campaigns - they counted on getting a significant part of that money back in bribes.
  • Minority-owned credit unions
  • Funding for the arts
  • Student loan forgiveness

As long and tedious as this list was, it's important.  It is a partial, incomplete list of all the Democrat proposals which they tried to cram into a single emergency bill that was originally begun with one single dire purpose: to keep our economy from collapsing under the overwhelming burden of the Chinese coronavirus plague.

Despite their hand-wringing on TV, we can only conclude that Democrats do not actually believe that coronavirus is any particular danger to anyone they care about, since they felt that government action was of no real urgency worth setting aside the agenda items they've held for years.

So we see that, even in a supposedly dire crisis worth casting aside at least half, if not more, of the Bill of Rights, Democrats still consider pushing their agenda to be Job One.

At least, for once, Republicans didn't just roll over; much of the poison was excised from the final bill.  Even so, some Democrat wishes made it into law, so once again, the ball moves a few more inches toward their end of the field.

What's Good for the Goose

Why does this tactic only work in one direction?  Why do only Democrats ever spot the opportunities in a crisis to make things go their way?  Do we have no intelligent conservatives who've read Machiavelli and Saul Alinsky and are able to apply the same techniques for the cause of truth, justice, and the American Way?

Well, we don't seem to know of any, except possibly Donald Trump himself.  So, as the saying goes, if you want something done - do it yourself.

In the next article in this series, we'll take a crack at proposing some ways the our side, for once, can attempt to use this crisis to our advantage.  After all, if we can't come up with some way to use the Chinese flu to do things we could not do before, we shouldn't expect ever to win.
