Dealt A Lemon? Make Lemonade!

There's an old saying to the effect that when a true entrepreneur is dealt a lemon, he makes lemonade and sells it at a profit.  We see this phenomenon at work in a Reuters article "Buy a car, get a free gun" which says:

"This thing has taken off. Sales have quadrupled," said Muller. ... Every buyer so far "except one guy from Canada and one old guy" has elected to take the gun, Muller said. Muller recommends his customers select a Kel-Tec .380 pistol. ... "It's a nice little handgun that fits in your pocket," he said.

Our news media decreed long ago that the next President would be a Democrat.  We've pointed out that the credible prospect of having a Democrat in the White House who'd sign all of Nancy Pelosi's loony-left legislation sparked a massive sell-off of stocks which has helped take our economy down.  This isn't the only factor challenging our economy, far from it, but the prospect of having the Democrats be in a position to actually pay off on their promises to the labor unions and to the trial lawyers has thoroughly spooked the entrepeneurs who own the businesses and factories where the rest of us work.  What's wrong with their being rich?  Those of us who aren't smart enough to start businesses need businessmen for whom we can work.  How else could we pay taxes and support our government?

Mr. Obama has the most liberal voting record of anyone in the Senate.  The closer he gets to the Democratic nomination, the more businessmen sell out and the worse the economy gets.  When the economy is down, people delay big-ticket purchases such as automobiles.  The mere thought of Mr. Obama's economic policies has already hurt Mr. Mullers' automobile dealership, but in true entrepreneurial style, he's come back swinging with a new idea for promoting his business:

"We did it because of Barack Obama. He said all those people in the Midwest, you've got to have compassion for them because they're clinging to their guns and their Bibles. I found that quite offensive.  We're not clinging to nothing. We're just damn glad to live in a free country where you can have a gun if you want. This is the way it ought to be."

Mr. Muller may or may not know that Mr. Obama's voting record and other actions make a lie of his supposed support for gun ownership.  He may or may not know that Mr. Obama has signed on to a global antipoverty program that would cost us nearly half the entire federal budget.

Mr. Muller may or may not have studied Mr. Obama's policy proposals in detail - he's got a business to run, a payroll to meet, and taxes to pay - but he sure was offended by Mr. Obama's offer of "compassion."  He didn't quite say, "Buy from me if you don't appreciate Mr. Obama," but he might as well.

Profiting from Mr. Obama's silly sentiments takes creativity.  We at Scragged worry that it will take genius to profit from Mr. Obama's silly policies.
